Men not needed to create life

Researchers at the university of Newcastle have create human sperm cells, from a female embryonic stem cell, this is not the first time that the team lead by Professor Karim Nayernia have managed to create a cell like this, they created the same from male bone marrow too, although they are working on a way that they can produce a human sperm cell from female bone marrow.

In essence what this means is that lesbian couples would be able to conceive a baby by using the DNA from both partners, making the process more personal to them and without the need for a man!

However there are questions as to the viability of a female sperm cell, this is to do with the actual genetic material and whether there is enough to be able to produce a healthy baby. They have too test the cell in find out if the cell have the right amount of DNA, but once the hurdle is passed there should not be any more problems.
