Human stem cells manipulated

Researchers at the International Stem Cell Corp in California, USA, have been working with human eggs and believe that these can be manipulated to act in a similar manner as stem cells. This will help many different people from varying backgrounds.

Once the eggs have been changed they can then be matched with other tissue samples, this is very similar that to the way that bone marrow transplants are done in order to prevent rejections.

The company is interested in creating a stem cell tissue bank, which could be used without the worry of rejection from the patient’s immune system. This is a fast moving subject with new ideas coming out all of the time, but this could be promising.
