Stem cells used cancer surgery aftercare

Doctors in Japan have been using stem cells taken from fat that has been removed liposuction, to help women cancer patients who have had mastectomies. But have been disappointed to find that the operation has left them with odd shapes and scarring etc.

This work has seen much research recently as the recovery of the patient is essential, but they also need to feel good about themselves too, if after a major operation and treatment for cancer the patient feels down just because of the scars left, if this can be eliminated the chances of the patient feeling better within themselves is increased.

The Japanese results found that only eight months after being treated, around eighty per cent of the patients were satisfied with the results.
