President Bush cuts bio research spending

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the States have been dealt a blow from the US President George Bush when their bill for $151 billion was sent back to Congress; this means that they will need stick with the 2007 budget.

The difference is $30 billion and most of this would have gone into research projects for the International Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, The National Children’s Study, and other projects that would have had an impact on health issues.

It is possible that there may be a solution to the shortfall, but it’s disappointing to see any cuts in biomedical research.
