Inheriting two epilepsy genes may prove positive

When both parents have epilepsy their fear would be that their children would naturally inherit the same disease, yet in recent research by Dr Jeffery L Noebels from the Baylor College of Medicine have found that it may be possible that the two genes could cancel each other out.

If this were to be true then this would be a remarkable discovery and could have an effect on the lives of thousands of people who previously thought that they would be passing the epilepsy gene to their offspring.

Obviously there are many different types of epilepsy and not all are responsible for seizures etc, but in test done on mice, two types were of the disease were tested in mice, and after the mouse had fewer seizures and therefore would be preferable to the full blown disease, and it may be possible to test different combinations until there is a cancellation.
