Mobile Phones dangerous in Hospitals

The subject of mobile phones is back on the agenda again, as researchers in Holland suggest that mobile phones should not be taken in hospitals. A team from the University of Amsterdam produced results from a recent study, which concluded that mobile phones should not be taken to within one metre of a hospital bed or medical equipment. I think that we have been here before!

Yet the team recorded nearly fifty individual occurrences of electromagnetic interference, which had been caused directly by a mobile handset. Even more curious is their claim that up to 75% of these interferences could have been potentially life threatening is the handset was near essential equipment.

These findings are in complete contrast to recent tests that have been carried out using similar circumstances; once again we are in a situation of not knowing which way to turn.
