Human-animal hybrid embryos on the way

As outrageous as it may sound, the UK fertility regulator will be giving the go ahead for this sort of research in the UK.

The bill in draft form has already been published by the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) and it would appear that there are not many people who were consulted who are against it.

However when they say animal and human hybrid, they are not talking about a cross species being created, this is 99.9 per cent human and just 0.01 per cent animal, some people would say there are already humans around that exhibit more animal instincts!

The embryos created will only be allowed to divide for just fourteen days before being destroyed. It is hoped that the scientists will be able to find ways of growing viable stem cells, which have such a promising effect on many illnesses.

There could some serious opposition though, once some of the groups who are set against this type of research have studied the bill in full.
