Bionic eye coming soon

Sight is a very important thing and gradually losing it over a long period of can be very distressing. However, a new development in the field of replacement lenses to combat the problems of long and short sight.

This happens with age as the lens of the eye hardens and becomes inflexible, this will eventually turn to long sightedness, which could be treated with an artificial lens or even laser treatment but these treatments are far from being permanent.

Professor James Wolffsohn, from Aston University has been working on a so called bionic lens, which once put in place will be permanent and cost effective at around £1000.

The work involves creating a flexible lens that can replace the failing lenses and make the patients sight back to normal once more.
