Parents dumbing down kids with TV

In a document released through the May issue of the Archives of Paediatric Adolescent Medicine a JAMA publication, it has been discussed that parents who all to often place their children in front of the TV, Video and DVD players, sometimes feel that they are doing them a favour, especially when there are programmes like Sesame Street being shown.

But in the report it has been found that the parents are being sold this story that their children will be getting ahead start by watching these programmes, but in reality it is the children who are losing out in the long term.

The main problem lies with the lack of interaction, after all these children are being sat in a chair, sometimes even strapped into a chair and then they just watch the TV and listen to funny animals and aliens who do not talk in a proper manner, there fore the children think that this is how we communicate.
