Brain scanners that predict decisions

In a study by John-Dylan Haynes a neuroscientist, of the Max Planck Institute it has been found that our brains already make up our minds when it comes to decisions, even before we have had time think about it.

By using brain scans to see the brain working, it has been noticed that the brain begins to work several seconds before any movement occurs. This has been used in experiments where the test subjects are required press a button.

However before the finger has pressed the button the activity had already started around seven seconds before the button is pressed. The problem with this type of experimentation is that fact that all people are different and no two tests will be the same. So the overall results are going to be wide raging.
