Sleeping at work improves productivity

This may not be what any employer would like to hear, but researchers from the University of Dusseldorf in Germany have been looking into the effects of taking a nap while being at work. They have found that by having a little cat nap during the working can help improve memory and mental performance as it refreshes the brain and this leads to improved recall and mental efficiency.

The team carried out tests on students by asking them to look at and remember a list of thirty words, they are then given a break fro an hour before starting the test. During the test some students were allowed to have a six minute nap, while the others continued through until the end.

The results showed that those students who had been allowed to have a nap actually displayed what they called super recall, when compared with those who had not had a nap. So in future could we see a nap break along with the normal tea breaks and lunch at work?
