Clean homes good for Asthma

You cannot escape the adverts for cleaning materials in the press and on TV, while at the supermarket there is a whole isle devoted to cleaning materials. But could there be a link between the increase in bleaches, paint strippers, carpet cleaners, and all of those other cleaners and the increase of the child asthma.

In research involving 7,019 families from the Children Of The 90s project at the University of Bristol, looked at the 14,000 children of the families and have come to the conclusion that there is a connection between the breathing problems that some children have had and the cleaning products used by their parents to clean keep their home sparkling clean.

The eleven most common are disinfectant, bleach, carpet cleaner, window cleaner, dry cleaning fluid, aerosols, turpentine or white spirit, air fresheners, paint stripper, paint or varnish and pesticides or insecticides. Obviously there are some products that need to be used, but it when they come into contact with children that the problems arise.
