Far east ploughs cash into Nanotechnology

It appears that the US may have been caught napping when it comes to research into nanotechnolgy. While the US appears to be entrenched in a battle between two factions, those who wish to research and develop new science frontiers and those who take the more religious view shall we say? Whatever the politics the outcome is the same failure!

Yet on the other hand, there has been a marked effort by other countries such as Taiwan, Israel and more significantly Singapore, who have made such advancements in nanotechnolgy that they are reputedly the top country for this type of research, and are still investing heavily into this sector.

The research has been compared to the space race of the fifties and sixties, yet are the Americans that far behind? The research into anything like stem cells and nanotechnolgy attracts so many groups who are against it, that it is only natural to do things in secret.
